Maddy was up bright and early this morning. 630. So much for sleeping in. I am sure the excitement of what the day held woke her up. So I got up and we both changed and headed out to breakfast. The hotel didn't start till 7 so we walked around the hotel grounds and found the playground. It was really nice. Small...but nice. Breakfast was nice and it was fun just to hang out with Maddy and chat for awhile.
When we got back Dad still wasn't up so Maddy made her bed and watched some tv. After Dad finally got going we headed out to DL. Our first stop was Jungle Cruise. A personal favorite. Our guide was really funny and had Maddy laughing which was fun to see. He told jokes that were new and I was giggling a bit myself. After the cruise Maddy and I split a pickle and we headed off to the Winnie the Pooh ride. She is getting braver and braver with each ride. The Winnie the Pooh ride was a big hit and so I asked if she wanted to do the Haunted Mansion. She passed on it but a mom had to try. I love that ride.
I heard that they had redone Tom Sawyer's island so we decided to take a look. It was fun to explore all the tunnels and caves around the island. Though Maddy went into one cave that was pretty dark and totally lost it. We had to high tail it out of there and it took a couple of minutes to calm her down. It was just to dark. So we stayed away from the dark caves and found the treasure at the end of the island. WOO HOO! Go team V!
I needed a good safe ride so Maddy would regain her confidence back so I offered Small World. That got Maddy excited again. She loved pointing out all the princesses that have been added to the ride and it was fun to share that excitement with her. The last time she rode it she was 18 months old so it was kind of the first time for her.
After that success I decided to push my luck with a faster ride. Roger Rabbit. I have never been on it so I knew I was risking it but decided to go with it because Maddy was up for it. She got a little nervous in line because it was dark but we powered through the line. The ride was really fun. It is like the tea cups but on a moving track. Shay was in the car in front of us so Maddy got a kick out of what Shay spin really fast. We did some spinning as well but noone spins like Shay does. Maddy's take on the ride "Little scary....little not" Not bad.
Since we were in toon town we decided to do as much as we could before we headed back for naps. We did Chip N Dale's tree house. Mickey's house and Donald's boat. After all that in one morning all three of us knew it was time for a break. We walked back to the hotel and I was lucky enough to get both kids to nap while I stayed up and downloaded pictures.
After their cat nap we hit the pool. I was excited to see what Maddy retained from her swim lessons last year and after a rocky start she was back to her old fishy self and actually she didn't want Dad to hold her at all she wanted to do it all herself which is a huge improvement from last year. I think that this really going to give us a great start for lessons (which start in two weeks). The pool is heated which was a definite plus. We tried to not stay to long because we knew that Maddy would tire out quickly.
So we headed back to the room....changed for dinner and headed back to the park. This time we went to California Adventure. We timed it right and caught the last showing of Aladdin. That show is absolutely amazing. Maddy and I were both laughing so hard. The genie in the show told the best jokes. Even better than last year. Shay even said he enjoyed it.
Maddy then wanted to see the Bugs Life show but hunger won out and we headed over to get soup in a bread bowl. YUMMO. Maddy and the kids power box. Which included all her favorites. Sting Cheese. Apples. Yogurt. Gold Fish and Milk. The soup was heavenly and it was fun to sit and people watch.
Then it was off to the Bug's Life Show. Well let's just say that didn't go over very well and we had to leave. She has seen it twice before but I think that it was just too much for her. She was crying so hard I really felt bad for her.
We had to hit some really winners next so we headed over to the bug's life ride area and rode a few quick rides which were big hits. It was getting late so we ran over to DL one more time to see if the line at the Peter Pan ride was any smaller and alas it wasn't so we headed back to the hotel.
Tomorrow we are going to go the the Aquarium in Long Beach and then its dinner with Steve in SD. Can't wait. So excited. =)

May 30 - Vacation Day 1
So today is the day. Day one of the 2010 Villere vacation. All 3 of us are so excited.
The day started of difficult. I woke up with a headache but was determined not to let it get to me. We packed up the car (and by we I mean me) and off we went. I was ready to go when I woke up at 630 but I had to wait for the two sleepy heads to wake up so we get going. Finally everything was taken care of and we headed up. Stanley made a break for it and tried to jump in the car to go with us, but Shay was able to pick him up and carry him inside. It broke my heart to leave him, but I know that he will enjoy his time with Nana and Grandma.
The car ride was uneventful. I started off driving and only made it an hour before my headache was headed toward migraine country. We pulled off to switch and I took my migraine medication....put a movie in for Maddy and I was off to sleep. My medication kicked in right away and I was feeling 100% an hour later. Phew....crisis avoided. Maddy was great in the car, she watched some dvd's, colored and spent a lot of time just looking out the window. She only asked if we were there yet 100 times so I felt like overall the trip for her was good. We only hit traffic once about 20 minutes outside of Anaheim and pulled into our hotel at 4pm.
The hotel is amazing. We have a full kitchen and right now as I type this Shay is in bed and Maddy is asleep on the pull out sofa surrounded by body pillows. =) It really feels like we are at home. Maddy even took a bath tonight which she doesn't normally like to do in hotels.
After we got settled in we headed over to Disneyland just to see what we could do. We were getting in line for Alice in Wonderland and a cast member pulled us aside and said to follow him. He asked Maddy what ride she wanted to ride and she said Alice in Wonderland and so he said to follow him. He took us straight to the front of the line. HOW AWESOME! I was a little overwhelmed. We got to chat with the CM for a little while we waited. He has the coolest job he just walks around the park and asks people what ride they want to go on and then he takes them to the front of the line. He called it creating magic. I told him that he just made our day, because we literally just walked in the park. Then as we were waiting Maddy told him that she wanted a pink car so he made sure that she got a pink car to ride in. After a short wait we were off on our first ride. Two people had to ride in the back so Shay and I rode in the back while Maddy was up front. She brought her favorite bunny named bun bun so I was hoping that bun bun would keep Maddy safe. I kept my hand on her shoulder to let her know I was there but halfway through the ride she pushed my hand off and said "It's ok Mom, I'm not scared". After the ride she was so proud of herself that she made it through the whole ride.
So I asked her what she wanted to do next and she wanted to ride Pinocchio. That was also a big hit. We were going to get in line for the Peter Pan ride but we were starving. So we headed over to the French Market for dinner. It was awesome. Maddy even enjoyed her Macaroni and Cheese. The park was getting crowded so we decided to head back to the hotel and call it an early night so that we can start bright and early tomorrow. I think we are really going to brave Disneyland on Memorial Day....What are we thinking. =)
